Entrepreneurship Programme
The OCFO Entrepreneurship Mentoring Programmes transfer tactical business skills to upcoming entrepreneurs.
OVERVIEW
Our Entrepreneurship Mentoring Programmes provide essential business skills, training and support to SMEs.
The aim of these programmes is to bridge knowledge gaps, provide access to financing and ultimately, build successful, sustainable businesses.
In working with multiple entrepreneurs in various industries over the years, we have identified essential supportive services that SMEs require to grow effectively. Our programmes are designed to upskill founders and hone their ability to unlock the resources necessary to take their business to the next level.
Our programmes include:
- Finance Readiness
- Market Readiness
- Startup School
- CFO Mentorship
FoundersFoundation NPC (“FF”)
Believing that the future of South Africa and the transition out of poverty for the majority of our people depends upon the growth and success of startups and entrepreneurs, the FF is established as a non-profit company, and has the following objective:
To support, serve, develop and enable SMEs – primarily black-owned – with a strong focus on young, female-led startups. This is achieved through capacity building, training, and providing access to ongoing support and mentorship including, inter alia:
- Training events, enterprise ecosystem meet-ups, incubator and accelerator programs
- Raising public awareness of the need to support and fund SMEs
- Educational journeys for SME builders, providing inspiration and information to equip them for the future
- Positioning startups to receive other support and funding to grow and thrive
Entrepreneur Programmes
Finance Readiness
The intent of the Finance Readiness Programme is to provide the entrepreneur with financial insights and expertise to facilitate an improved ability to raise funding and grow their business. A full suite of fundraising services will be performed. These will include the most critical and most often overlooked elements required for a successful fundraise.
Funding for entrepreneurs in South Africa is within arm’s reach. Founder teams looking to scale their business through funding or financing may, however, find it difficult to manage the complexities of the funding process.
Entrepreneurs who have all aspects of their business organized, with specific financial functions in place, have proven to be better positioned to engage with potential investors. The programme aims to provide the entrepreneur with financial insights and expertise to facilitate an improved ability to raise funding for their business.

Here, companies who have taken part in the program/me are showcased to a high profile group of investors in the exciting “Dragons’ Den” style format.

Market Readiness
Marketing, selling, and business development are essential to building a successful entrepreneurial venture. Unfortunately, not all founder teams have backgrounds and experience in this niche domain.
For some, these skills come naturally. For others, gaps in their ability to gain clients and market access halts their growth and limits their ability to realise their vision.
The aim of the Market Readiness Programme is to equip founders with the skills, knowledge and tools required for successful sales, marketing, and business development efforts. Sharpening these tools in a founder’s toolbox will lead to an increase in their ability to generate business and revenue – leading to a significant impact on their personal and business growth journey.
Startup School
Starting a company can be daunting. The Startup School provides founders with a platform to learn from experts in the field. Entrepreneurs will gain insight and practical skills to help them develop and grow their business.
CFO Mentorship
CFO mentorship provides early-stage entrepreneurs with the opportunity to learn and receive guidance on the improvement of their financial function. This is facilitated through one-on-one mentorship sessions with a dedicated CFO mentor that is allocated to the entrepreneur.
